Excerpt from an untitled piece. Let’s call it “Oblivion” for now…

The grey drabs covering her pillows had some dark patches where her face once lay. Creases formed on the bed around the area where the lump that is her body sat, and the offensive smell of whiskey mixed with vomit escaped her mouth as she turned over to stare at the body lying next to her. An eerie silence covered the room, occasionally interrupted by the disturbing snores of the swine with whom she had just swapped DNA. The other sound breaking the silence was the unmistakable loudness of her regrets, filling up the whole room with her silent tears and soft sobs, causing a piercing ache in her ears with her lips quivering and her body shuddering in shame. Shame!
She took a swig out of the silver hip flask she’d been gifted on her twenty-fifth birthday by one of her numerous lovers. Or was it her dealer? Who knows. Despite routinely doing this every day to numb the pain and forget the deeds, she winced as the bitter liquid touched her tongue, caressed it for a millisecond and went on to scorch her throat – much like the way these men approached her; not hesitating to pounce on her vulnerability the second she began to enjoy it. It wasn’t really their fault though, was it? She should have known better…
